AccuSense: Directions & Safety |
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS- The thermometer is only suitable for the measurement of body temperature.
- The minimum measurement time should be adhered to. This is indicated by 10 beeps when temperature is reached.
- The thermometer contains small parts (eg. battery) that can be swallowed by children. Never leave the thermometer unattended with children.
- Protect the thermometer from hitting and striking.
- Avoid storing thermometer above 60˚C. NEVER boil the thermometer.
- The thermometer must be intact when immersed in water or liquid disinfectant.
- The thermometer contains a long-life battery. For disposal, please comply with local regulations for special waste.
- Accuracy of the thermometer should be verified by an authorised laboratory every 2 years.
TURNING ON THE THERMOMETER To turn on the thermometer, push the ON/OFF button; a short beeping sound signals «thermometer ON». At a room temperature of less than 32˚C, an «L» and a flashing «˚C» appear at the upper right of the display. The thermometer is now ready to use.
USING THE THERMOMETER Choose the preferred measuring method (see below). While the temperature is being taken the «ºC» symbol flashes continuously. When the thermometer beeps (beep-beep-beep-beep 10 times) and the «ºC» stops flashing, it means that the measured increase in temperature is less than 0.1˚C in 8 seconds and that the highest temperature has been reached. Remove the thermometer and take the reading. To prolong the life of the battery, turn it off after use by pressing the ON/OFF button briefly. Otherwise the thermometer will automatically turn off after about 10 minutes.
MEASURING METHODS In the mouth (oral) Position the thermometer in one of the two pockets under the tongue, to the left or right of the root of the tongue. The measuring sensor must have good contact with the tissue. Close your mouth and breathe evenly through the nose to prevent the measurement from being influenced by inhaled or exhaled air. Approx. measuring time: 1 minute
In the anus (rectal) This is the most reliable measuring method, and is especially appropriate for infants and small children. Carefully insert the tip of the thermometer 2 to 3 cm into the anal aperture. Approx. measuring time: 1 minute
In the armpit (axillary) From a medical viewpoint, this method will always provide inaccurate readings, and should not be used if precise measurements are required. Approx. measuring time: 5 to 10 minutes
